The Most Important Factor in Living the Greatest Life Possible
Jesus Said It in ONE Powerful Sentence
I became a follower of Jesus when I was eighteen years old. I was searching for purpose in life and couldn’t find it until I read the New Testament.
There, I read Jesus’ words that He came to show us what God is really like, teach us God’s truth, and help us live abundant, overflowing lives that maximize what we can become and do (John 10:10, Luke 4:18–19, Luke 12:32). Jesus came to set in motion the love, truth, peace, joy, compassion, justice, and wholeness-producing Kingdom of God.
Jesus did not come to condemn people; He came to save, liberate, heal, and empower people to become what God had always planned for them to be (John 3:16–18).
Immediate Soul Change
When I received Jesus’ gift of eternal life—believing He died for my sins and was raised from the dead—there was an immediate change in my soul.
I felt relief and forgiveness for my sins, and a deep sense of joy and peace settled in my heart and mind. I also gained a new assurance that God was truly my Father, that He loved me, and had meaningful plans for my life.
Since that moment, I’ve been driven to study, meditate on, and share God’s Word. And my greatest focus has always been:
How can we experience and continue experiencing God in a way that transforms us and empowers us to live His unique purposes for our lives?
The #1 Factor in Living the Greatest Life Possible
After years of studying Scripture and working with others, I’ve come to see a simple yet powerful truth: the key to living life as God intended is found in one verse.
In John 15:5, Jesus says, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him bears much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.”
The Bible teaches over and over again that we cannot save ourselves from sin and its consequences. While doing the right practices is essential to spiritual growth and personal transformation, none of that can happen without staying connected to Jesus.
The Power of Abiding in Jesus
Jesus said the only way to bear real fruit—knowing God, growing in Christlikeness, and fulfilling God’s purposes—is to abide in Him. To remain in Him and have Him remain in us. Apart from Him, we can do nothing.
It’s crucial to understand: apart from Jesus, even our greatest accomplishments are nothing in God’s eyes. The only things that will last into eternity are those done through our relationship with Jesus.
How Not to Waste Your Life
When we learn to live in constant interaction with Jesus, based on His words and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we can bear much fruit. Our lives can be rich with the life of Jesus, sharing what He gives us with those He has prepared us to reach.
