How to Live an Unshakeable Life
3 Steps Jesus Taught
In today's world, it can often feel like everything is changing, and not always for the better. Many unbiblical forces seem to be trying to impose themselves on us. But despite the challenges, our world has gone through these times before, and Jesus has already given us the answer for how to live a life that cannot be shaken.
In John 16:33, Jesus said, “In the world you WILL have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
That’s incredibly encouraging news because, as believers, we are in Christ and He is in us—meaning we too can overcome the world.
So, what did Jesus teach about building an unshakeable life, especially when life's storms hit hard? Let’s look at Luke 6:47–48 to find the answer:
“Everyone who comes to Me, and hears My words, and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like; he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.”
3 Never-Changing, Always-Working Steps to Build an Unshakeable Life
1. Come to Jesus
Always keep Jesus as your source and priority. He is the way, the truth, and the life. Everything in life is designed to run through Him, and thanks to the Cross, we have continual access to Him. No matter what life throws at us, coming to Jesus first is the foundation for building a life that will not be moved.
2. Listen to His Words
Jesus’ words give us divine wisdom, guidance, encouragement, and strength. Through His words, we can learn how to live the kingdom life here on earth. In Romans 10:6–8, the Bible tells us that God’s words can do everything Jesus did while He was on earth. By listening to His words with an open and hungry heart, we build a strong foundation in our lives.
3. Act on His Words
The key difference between the person whose house stands through the storm and the one who falls is whether or not they acted on Jesus' words. It’s not about being perfect, but about prioritizing and acting on what Jesus taught. By doing what He said, we build a life that is immovable, no matter what life throws our way.
Ask Yourself:
If life feels overwhelming, or if certain areas of your life keep being shaken by challenges, ask yourself these three questions:
Am I consistently coming to Jesus and prioritizing my relationship with Him?
Am I listening to His words and letting them soak into my soul?
Am I taking action on His words?
By following these three steps, we can live unshakeable lives, anchored in the eternal rock of Jesus Christ.
My goal is to help busy believers experience God more deeply, grow consistently—both spiritually and personally—and confidently live out their unique purpose.
